Yellow Wood worked with the National Cooperative Business Association (NCBA) to conduct a pilot study on the unique contribution cooperatives make to the creation and retention of wealth in the communities and regions in which they operate. We worked with six pilot cooperatives from across the country that represented four different cooperative sectors, agriculture/farm, financial, employee-owned and rural electric, to start to identify and measure the impacts each cooperative makes on each of the seven forms of wealth. Impacts identified ranged from employee retention through employer-sponsored day care to prairie restoration and findings were presented at the NCBA Annual Meeting & Co-op Conference.
