These appendices contain supplemental material for the final report compiled by Yellow Wood, documenting work undertaken by Yellow Wood Associates and Richmond Energy Associates, on behalf of the USDA Forest Service, to identify potential candidates for biomass energy and provide biomass pre-feasibility studies. Supplemental materials include: conferences and webinars, a guide to public outreach, a sample call for local champions, a sample solicitation letter, information on what makes a facility a good candidate for woody biomass, as well as additional issues to consider and sample copies of material used in the work. Yellow Wood worked in 11 states, including Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, Maine, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Wisconsin and West Virginia to evaluate the use of sustainable wood energy, assessing a range of biomass technologies at a wide range of facilities, including schools, regional agencies, healthcare facilities, industrial facilities, town offices and hospitality and recreational facilities.
