5Capitals is tool for understanding critical development issues, designed for users including funding agencies, NGOs, consultants, government agencies, businesses, and certification bodies.  The tool is built on the belief that greater access to livelihood assets such as human, social, natural, physical and financial capitals increases the well-being and resilience of smallholder households, as well as their economic viability and performance.  Tool features include an asset-based approach, impact pathways, multiscale and multidimensional analysis, a field-tested and validated methodological framework, and a focus on organizational learning.
