This report is a pre-feasibility assessment specifically tailored to Burrows Paper outlining whether or not biomass energy makes sense for this facility from a practical perspective. Two scenarios were analyzed for this study – one analyzes the addition of a woodchip boiler to provide heat only, replacing 85% of the natural gas and 100% of the purchased steam. The second scenario investigates the feasibility of adding a steam backpressure turbine with an induction generator (creating a combined heat and power (CHP) biomass plant), which would offset some of the facility’s electrical use as well.
